Experience

Ashley is a dedicated trial attorney with over thirteen years of litigation and trial experience, Ashley brings a breadth of trial and appellate experience to the firm. She primarily focuses her practice on employment discrimination, personal injury, trucking defense, and mass tort cases. Ashley’s extensive litigation background has led to a variety of favorable results at the federal and state level by way of verdicts, summary judgments, dismissals, and nominal settlements.

Prior to joining the firm, Ashley worked heavily in governmental practice. Ashley began her career as a public defender in the Kansas City Trial Office where she handled cases ranging from drug possession to murder trials. First-chairing nine (9) jury trials in Jackson County Circuit Court, and countless bench trials in Juvenile Court, Ashley learned how to effectively handle a fast-paced practice, the value of client communication, organization, and how to adjust quickly on her feet.

Ashley then continued her governmental practice at the Jackson County Counselor’s Office where she represented the county in all civil litigation, including premises liability, employment discrimination, and civil rights. Through that experience, Ashley first-chaired three (3) jury trials, two employment discrimination and civil rights. These trials also led Ashley to gain experience at the appellate level—authoring briefs and conducting oral arguments before the Western District Court of Appeals of Missouri and the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals. Through this work, Ashley learned how to effectively represent large organizations and work with businesses of all sizes, and how to hone her writing and appellate skills.

Thereafter, Ashley transitioned to private practice where she continued trial and appellate work in civil litigation, representing a variety of municipalities against claims of personal injury, such as slip and falls, sexual assault, severe dog bites. She also handled defects on roadways, inverse condemnation, and breach of contract claims in the state of Missouri.

A former competitive gymnast, Ashley knows the importance of discipline and work ethic to achieve stellar results. Outside of work, Ashley enjoys spending time with her family, reading a good mystery novel, playing tennis, and traveling the world.
