For Elysa Foundation Valentine’s Day Delivery

What a successful Valentine’s Day Delivery for the For Elysa Foundation today!

The For Elysa Foundation began in 2013 to honor two-year-old Elysa Rojas, whose life was cut far too short by a missed diagnosis of myocarditis. Myocarditis is an inflammation of the heart muscle that is frequently caused by common viruses and can lead to sudden cardiac arrest. The foundation’s goals are three-fold:

  • Education: Education of healthcare providers and the community about warning signs of potential cardiac conditions
  • Light: Providing light to other children and families affected by myocarditis
  • Research: Promoting research on myocarditis and other causes of pediatric sudden cardiac arrest

The annual Letters from Angels campaign fulfills the second tenet of the foundation, “light”, by sharing love and support through Valentines cards and gifts to all of the children receiving care at Children’s Mercy Hospital, not just cardiac patients.
